Can’t Kick High? Tips on Maximizing Leg Flexibility

When most people think of any type of boxing, they instantly picture too very strong men fist-fighting, with gloves, in a cage; however, this style of boxing is a little different. Sure, they can still use their fists, but a strong kick with their leg can really give them an advantage in the round. However, most people to not have the gift of flexibility, and the feat becomes even tougher when boxers train to gain size and strength. There are a couple things these boxers can do to maximize their leg flexibility.

The first thing they need to do is to stretch their legs and core. One really good stretch is where the person sits on the floor with their legs extended, and then they reach out and touch their toes with their hands. Another thing these athletes need to stretch is their hip flexor, which basically determines how high they can kick. They should stand up and alternate swinging one leg past the other, and they can also practice kicking. They also need to use weights to train their hip flexor, core and legs. These should be done with lighter amounts of weight and high repetitions, because this will allow for a larger range of motion.
